If you can imagine playing all the white keys on the piano, that would be playing the Major Modes. We will start with the C Ionian Mode and go down the list. Interesting enough these modes will be the foundation of music theory. Pay attention to how the rest of the modes sound like as you play them through. We will also cover the D Dorian, E Phrygian, F Lydian, G Mixolydian, A Aeolian and the B Locrian modes.
The entire set of modes consists of only these notes. ( C, D, E, F, G, A and B ). Each mode will have a different starting place but they also consist of these same notes with no sharps (#) and no flats (b). |
